I have arrived!!!

I am in New York!!! I still haven't unpacked yet, and I'm not sure when I will. Unpacking is a very lengthy process for me, so we'll see how that works out.

Stuff That Happened Thing & Things I Have Observed
  1. I have the biggest room!!!
  2. As of now, I have no roommate, but I could get one any day throughout my 9 week stay here. I hope one never comes!!!
  3. The other girls in the apartment are very cool, and one's a fashion major, which gives her like +10 points in my book.
  4. My view is  brick wall... not much you can do about that.
  5. At a rest stop, a lady told me and my sister a sob story about needing $19 to get something or other that would fix her car so she could get to work. I bought it, but was wary, so I only gave her $4. Her car was gone after I came back from the bathroom. I still don't know if she was lying or not. I guess I'll never *sigh*.
  6. My sister did a bad job of telling me where the pot holes in the sidewalk were as I guided a cart full of my junk through New York. I hit one, the cart tipped over and a bunch of shit fell out. People stared and laughed unabashedly... thanks sis.
  7. The air conditioner is broken... fuck.
  8. Kevin Hirst lives directly above me :-D
  9. Tiffin Wallah, the cutest little Indian restaurant, has the best flat bread ever!!!
  10. Resistance is futile concerning those honey roasted nuts, yummy!!
Today was a good starting off point to my summer in New York.

Peace,
Kim

I have always wondered if animals (like Native Americans) are bitter that we took their land. There was a time when they could roam free, playing with their little animal friends wherever they pleased. Then we pesky humans came along, and the poor animals or anything else that got in our way were left in the dust of our destruction!!! It's kinda sad. Anyway, I came across this artist who has created this world where animals rebelled and have taken over the world again. I was just surprised to find someone who was thinking the same question that I was thinking. Clearly we are soulmates. Check out his other stuff if you want to be transported to a world we're animals rule the world muahahahaha!!!!

Awww look, all the animals are friends now that they have banded together in their hatred of humans!

In about 38 hours I will be in New York City for the rest of the summer

Come Sunday morning, I will have left my life in Manchester, NH behind for the hustle and bustle of New York City. I am feeling a lot of different emotions right now. I thought I'd share them with you.

I feel...
  1. excited
  2. kinda nervous
  3. in between homes
  4. more than kinda nervous
  5. i might get swallowed up
  6. restless with the need to leave
  7. ready for a new phase in life
  8. sad for what i know i will miss
  9. weird that seeing mom for two weeks is long
  10. a strong tingling of anticipation for what is to come
I didn't decide to do that format with the words corresponding with the number until I started with the number 1. I kinda like it, but it made writing this post take about 10 minutes longer. Whatevs.

Peace,

Sundance's Green Porno Series

Green Porno is a series of shorts by Isabella Rossellini and some other cool people about how animals get it on. Cue the cheesy porn music. Seriously, these shorts are amazing. Not only are they hilarious, but they are incredibly artistic and thoughtful. I really like how it draws parallels between animals and humans. Who the hell knew that snails were sadomasochists?!?! I sure didn't. Hats off to you Isabella!! Check out more of the amazingness at the website.

This next one isn't really about the mating habits of any animal, but it really makes you think. I like that.

What a sick blog banner pic!!

I bet the first thing you noticed when you came to this blog is the awesome banner. It's a pretty cool pic isn't it. Well I can thank Google's Artist a Day feature and Artistaday.com for turning me on to this amazing photographer and digital artist, Erik Johansson. This guy's stuff is crazy amazing. Every picture has me wondering how the hell he did that and makes me wish I could be in one of his photographs. Check out his website! You won't regret it.
Here are a few of my favorite's by him. Enjoy!

Night driving deserves a quiet night…

If you've looked in my About Me, you know that I consider night driving to be much more than a means of getting home after a night of unadultered fun. Clearly, I'm not the only one who thinks this. iTunes even has an iTunes Essentials playlist dedicated to late night driving songs, and it's pretty awesome if I might add. If you're not convinced of the amazingness of night driving, let me set the scene for you.

-
It's 2:47AM

You've just left a rowdy gathering at a friend's house. You step into the cool night air. You walk to your car. The sound of your breathing mingled with the sound of your footsteps fills your ears. Everything else is silent. The streets are bare.

You get to your car. You're a little nervous and quickly open the door before settling into your car. You check the backseat. You can never be too cautious. You start your car; the loud roar makes you jump a bit. An eerie song comes on the radio as you start on your journey home.

Yours is the only car on the road. It's like you're the only person alive. The eerie music has your bones buzzing. The lyrics seep into your brain. Streaks of neon from stoplights and streetlights guide you on your way. You're thinking of everything and nothing.

You've arrived.

Home.

Honestly guys, it's an amazing experience if you just immerse yourself in it. Some of you probably think I'm a crazy person, but I like to think I'm taking pleasure in the little things. Anyway, my favorite night driving song of all time is Do You Realize by The Flaming Lips. The sound, the guitars, the strings, the snare, the words, the feel, everything about it is just quintessential for night driving. If you're still not convinced, here's what iTunes has to say on the matter:
While the world sleeps, you're at the wheel - part road warrior, part nightrider. And, to paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, you're inside, outside, moving, and still... all at the same time. You own the asphalt, and your car becomes something greater than the sum of its parts: a contemplation zone.
-iTunes
Just do it everyone. Seriously. Experience it. I swear you'll love it.

Peace,
Kim

Reasons why I have decided to start a blog:
  1. I have a lot to say.
  2. It's a lot easier to say everything here, than it is to say in "real life".
  3. I find a lot of interesting things that I'd like to share with people.
  4. I know some cool people with blogs. I like to think I'm cool, so I figured I should have one too.
  5. YOUR MOM HAS A BLOG! No seriously, I know a bunch of people whose moms have blogs.
I hope this thing is entertaining, informative and if anything, gives you a bit more insight on anything and everything Kim.

Peace,
Kim
